People's Bible Notes for John 14:13

Joh 14:13,14 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do. What man would dare to make such a promise? It will be noted, that in order to enjoy the fullness of these glorious promises we must, (1) Believe. They are limited thus in Joh 14:12. Without faith it is impossible to please God. (2) We must "ask in his name", or, in dependence upon the merit and intercession of Christ. (3) As shown elsewhere, we must come with a spirit of complete submission to the Father's will, feeling that his will is best, and saying in our hearts, "Thy will be done" (Mt 6:10 Lu 11:2).

Discussion for John 14

  • Irene123
Jn. 14:10 - ".....but the Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works." This is the foreshadowing of Acts 2:38, "...... and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." The Holy Ghost is the same as God's spirit - which Jesus had in Him. As Jesus the man without God's spirit in Him could do nothing, so can we not do anything without God's spirit indwelling in us.

Let nothing worry you if you're a child of God. Leave everything to Him and He will take care of all things. God is God and Jesus Christ is Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
