People's Bible Notes for John 1:48

Joh 1:48 Whence knowest thou me? Nathanael, who had never met Jesus before, was surprised to hear himself spoken of as one known. When thou wast under the fig tree. There was something about this answer that filled Nathanael with astonishment. Under the shade and shelter of the fig tree he had some rare experience that is not recorded, and that he supposed unknown to man. That Jesus knew of it and read his soul startled him and dissipated his unbelief.

Discussion for John 1

  • ANTHONY PLANGE-ANNAN
I give thanks and glory to John who humbly give good accounts of the Messiah and not given credit to himself by saying I baptize you with water but he will do with the Holy Spirit.
  • Edna
I so much like verse 12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name"
  • Tracey Greene
I love that part where the word says: and all we have received of His fullness. Christ is full of grace and truth, and having received of His fullness is incredible, His Spirit lives on the inside of us giving us a truly wonderful power to overcome the things of the world. John makes it plain, to the point.

    Elijah,

He already came as their Messiah. They rejected Him. That rejection came to a head with the stoning of Stephen. The second coming will be as King. To rule and reign with Israel on the earth. Today believers are in the Body of Christ which has a heavenly promise. Hope this helps.

Would any of you be so kind as to tell my why the second coming of jesus cannot fulfill the jewish definition of a Messiah?
