People's Bible Notes for James 4:17

Jas 4:17 To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin. The connection of thought is probably as follows: "I have warned you that such boasting is wrong, and that the right way is to speak submissively. If you know how to do the right and yet do it not, the sin is the greater on account of your knowledge". See Jas 4:15.

Do assume and fail to do the right thing when you are also aware

BSP's comment on 2013-11-26 20:23:18:

Knowledge brings accountability. Even though one may not be baptized or have a personal relationship with God, if that person knows what is right and doesn't do it he or she is still held accountable before God.
