Wesley's Notes for Isaiah 1:11

1:11 To me - Who am a spirit, and therefore cannot be satisfied with such carnal oblations, but expect to have your hearts and lives, as well as your bodies and sacrifices, presented unto me. Blood - He mentions the fat and blood, because these were in a peculiar manner reserved for God, to intimate that even the best of their sacrifices were rejected by him.

Discussion for Isaiah 1

In this chapter God viewed the Israelites' sins as wicked as the nations of Sodom and Gomorrah. They had fallen so far, but Jehovah God was laying their sins bare and giving them a warning before he took action against them.

To Russell Allen on Isa. ch. 1 - First of all - God bless for your humility. Here are some scriptures for your consideration - Deut. 4:39; 6:4; Isa. 42:8; 43:11; 44:6, 8; 45:5,6,18,21; 46:9; 47:8, 10; 48:11. There is ONE theme that runs through and 'connects' them all. As Isa. 28:10 says ..............; the WHOLE Bible works together, you CANNOT pick 'n choose what you want.

Isaiah 1 it teaches us that God is not after our burnt offerings, God is not after our beautiful voices that we offer in songs of worship, infact He's not even after our endless prayers. He is after our hearts. If we give Him our hearts and let Him lead and guide, wow! there we have given Him the platform to decorate our lives. there is His smile. Beautiful chapter!

My dark soul, full of sin, was struck down, burned as stubble in 1992. Since then the world has taught me to flee back to find Him and his Word. I simply cannot stay long in the world, full of lies, corruption, and false gods enticing. Sin is slavery and now my mission expands to visit a prison in Haiti. Amidst total darkness 3000 men crowd a facility designed to allow them to only stand. Kurt.
