Wesley's Notes for Hebrews 13:4

13:4 Marriage is honourable in, or for all sorts of men, clergy as well as laity: though the Romanists teach otherwise. And the bed undefiled - Consistent with the highest purity; though many spiritual writers, so called, say it is only licensed whoredom. But whoremongers and adulterers God will judge - Though they frequently escape the sentence of men.

Verse 5 is awesome. It gives us assurance that He is and always will be with us. But it is saying more than that. We are not to desire what others have because He has promised to always be with us. He is to be our sufficiency. And let me ask the question if Jesus is not enough in your life and my life then why isn't He? Something is wrong with us if "He is not enough" But He is more than enough!!!

This is a chap of exhortation encouraging us not to stop entertaining strangers, to remember those that are in bonds, encouraging marriage, not to be covetous, not to follow strange doctrines but to be established in the grace, to be submissive to our rulers etc. And he crowns all that with verses 20-21 my best. That the God of peace make us perfect... To Him be glory for ever and ever. Amen!

chapter 13 is just saying that we need to follow the laws and do what the one over us say. Because this is not our home., We're passing through on the journey to the place prepared for by Jesus. Telling us to Love one other at all times. Let our living be the Bible for others to see. Believe in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and God our Father. To Love Unconditionally the way God Loves Us.

Verse 7 encourages us to remember those taking the lead over us. We want to especially keep them in our prayers.
