People's Bible Notes for Hebrews 10:4

Heb 10:4 For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. The blood of bulls and goats, the animals offered in the sacrifices, had no power to cleanse from sin. In their essence the only real efficacy of the bloody sacrifices of the altar was the moral effect upon the people and the fact that they pointed forward to the Lamb of God.

Discussion for Hebrews 10

  • James A. "Jim" Farmer
Hebrews 10:25 when read in it's proper context is predicated upon grace and not law. For example we don't attend church regularly because we have to, but because we get to. By forsaking assembly with other Christians we might miss out on a blessing. Unfortunately some church leaders expect and demand church members to assemble to please their projected religious expectations they attempt to bind on others. Often they use guilt tactics such as the warn out, archaic religious church cliche: "we missed you in church!" Really? What is the motive here? Is this intended to lay a guilt trip onto someone who wasn't, or hasn't been in church lately? Perhaps the worse example of this are "sectarian legalistic" churches such as many non- instrumental Churches of Christ who attempt to bind law onto their members. Remember what II Corinthians 3:6 states: "Who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the spirit for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." Church abuse must be avoided!

I think as Jesus in his tenure to this world taught through his ways of living, helping, loving to one another. We should also consider the pain of our neighbor. And we should not only think of our own self but for others.

It is the only way we will bring one to Christ, and bring out the love that we have for God. may we always have love and compassion for our brothers and man kind. It goes alone with the two greatest commandants that God gave to man

I can't help but think that this verse reminds me "to put on the love if Christ Jesus" daily. How many times do we walk operate in our flesh and not the spirit daily? We are to think of others, most importantly give ourselves to The Lord daily, letting him add to us those things that are spiritual, so that we are able to "consider others". Father God, please help us to die to ourselves daily as you pour yourself into us. Please forgive us for being selfish, in Jesus name...Amen!
