3:22 Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil - See what he has got, what advantages, by eating forbidden fruit! This is said to humble them, and to bring them to a sense of their sin and folly, that seeing themselves thus wretchedly deceived by following the devil's counsel, they might henceforth pursue the happiness God offers, in the way he prescribes.

Genesis chapter 3:22 to me means because Adam ate of the fruit of good and evil he is know imperfect and then if he eat of he fruit of life he will then live forever in an imperfect life... and God could not send his son Jesus Christ to save us because we would be living forever in a sinful life..therefore I believe he had to cast Adam out of the as well as Eve is to give mankind a second chance of an everlasting life.. I also believe that Eve could have been the only one to eat of the fruit of Knowledge and Adam could have said no..We would have been living in paradise.. because God told Adam not to eat of the tree...Eve ate of the tree first and the what? nothing happened? we did'nt fall till Adam ate of the tree.. since man sinned Man had to come to save man God in a form of man Jesus Christ...Amen...

V. 22b.Eat of the tree of life and live forever. After humanity chose the deceiver and was separated from God (died), they were also banned from eating the fruit of the other trees in the garden, especially the tree of life. God did not want his love project to live forever in this fallen miserable state of being. However; there is access to the tree of life and eternal existance after restoration to God. 1 John 1:1 describes Jesus as the Word of life (Maybe presentation or offer of life). Rev.22:14 says,"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may go through the gates into the city. Only by relying on Jesus can we have this washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit(Titus 3:5). Lets press for that eternal life that God had planned for humanity, even before the fall.

Is god using 'the royal we' when he says "one of us" or is he perhaps refering to the polytheistc culture of the times? One can only wonder....
