Exodus 20 is my second favorite chapter in the bible. John 3 is my favorite.

Don’t let Satan and his minions persuade you into believing the lies of people from other religions that come to bible sites and try to undermine GOD’S HOLY WORD! THEY DO NOT RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH!

Pravesh Hindra is right. I mean he is being truthful. But in John 14:16-17, the lord Jesus Christ said ...and I will pray the Father (God the Father), and he shall give you another comforter (advocate), that he may abide with you forever; even the spirit of truth, - the comforter here is identified as the holy spirit; God the Father, God the Son-Jesus Christ- and God the Holy Spirit. This is the fullness of the godhead and spirit-; whom the world cannot receive because it cannot see him or know him; for he dwells with you and shall be in you. Jesus was talking to his disciple when he said this. That is why nowhere in the holy bible it talks about the prophet Muhammad. Stand for the word of God.
Pravesh hindra's comment on 11/10/2012, 4:34pm...
God is telling the truth when he says he is the Lord our God and that there is no other God beside him. His holy name is Jehovah. I grew up under Islam. Now I am converted to Christianity. At the mosque, we were taught that when Jesus Christ was about to depart for heaven, he said that he would send another comforter, and that comforter is supposedly the prophet Muhammad, which makes him the last prophet. This is not true at all. I’ve learned this recently. Jesus Christ made it clear in the book of John 1:16-17 that this comforter is the Holy Spirit and he lives in Christians, which means that he cannot be seen with optical eyes. And Muhammad is said to be a human being. What a lie, false doctrine.

Does adultery only pertain to married couples. If not, then what scripture actually says other than that?

@ jonah... hehehe your english just sounds so pityful and hilarious. you dont really know anything about islam. may Allah - Our Almighty Creator, the proper name of God in Arabic, guide you to the truth so you wont be led astray until the Day of Judgment. unlike you, i wont be saying nasty things bout other people's religions coz we are not taught to be like that what you are doing.. may you find peace someday. :)

@ miss m I catholics have twisted the scriptures and replaced ten commandments since they adopted pagan practices. Slam also adopted pagan stone throwing practices mind you the only true word of God is Holy Bible. I suggest you read the book written by an ex mosleem christ muhamad and I by ghazoli eslam came much after Christianity don't be misled by a religion which equates women and donkeys (if ur reading namaaz if a donkey or a women passes by ur namaaz is invalid if another being devil residing in the nose so wash ur nose

@ xavier. obviously, the Laws of God given to Moses was violated & not really followed. it just proves that the scriptures being proclaimed at churches was transgressed by the priests & their heirarchies themselves. i was a former catholic and currently a revert to Islam since holy week of 2011. i have discovered that the Real Laws and All Commandments of the One God, the Almighty Creator from time of 1st prophet-Adam to the last prophet - Muhammad, are all preserved in the Final Divine & Only Existing Authentic Scripture - the QUr'an. i suggest, as a help & with experience, to pls research bout Islam, the true religion of our noble prophets. i came into this link because i was searching bout a connecting verse from the bible bout statues - that they are actually forbidden by God, and yet my former religion people are highly-paying respect & devotion to these figurines that cant even figure out absolutely anything

Shane,
I may be of some help. To take the LORD's name in vain has nothing to do with titles like god or lord. They are titles. To take the LORD's name in vain is in Proverbs 30:9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. We take GOD's name in vain when we claim to be a follower but do contrary to His word. I hope this gets to you and is of some help. Be blessed my friend. :-)

God says the sabbath day is a sign between him and his people.ignoring that and keeping sunday or any other day of the week is opposing God's word.

Hi there, I'm here today to make all of you know the truth. Basically, today some Christian religious obviously making the image of God. God don't want people to create His image right? So, why should they making God image?
Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
It's proven from the bible that we could not create image of God.
Some people think that this 10 commandments included in the law that Mosses wrote. Well, it's not. The law is what Mosses write and the 10 commandments wrote by God Himself.
So, in that case we must follow the 10 commandments until now. That's what God want for people to do.
Cephas's comment on 2/09/2012, 2:08am...
from this we should understand that God loves us and will always want us to be associated to him and His Holiness by obeying his commandments.its a great prevelage for a human being to share the glory of the almighty God!,we just need to obey after all His is our creator-our source of everything-even that knowledge you have!!!!!
Yelena's comment on 12/05/2011, 12:39pm...
@ Shane There are no contradictions in the word of our God. What we need to do is to ask our God Almighty to be filled with His spirit so the veil will be taken off our eyes and He will give us the wisdom and discernment to understand His Word.
That is what I personally try to do before I read His Holy Word.. Hope this helps :)

The OT or Old Covenant and commandments will reveal our sins. The NT or New covenant shows how through Jesus Christ we are forgiven our sins. Everything that happened in the natural in the OT happened in the Spirit in the NT. When the OT says yes the NT says AMEN!!!!!

YHWH (Jesus) rather die on the cross for our sins then to change the immutable and unchangealbe law.His laws will stand forever and ever;Psalms119:44So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. Psalms40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law [is] within my heart. 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
Hebrews10:16 This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; Romans3:31Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.Romans7:12Wherefore the law [is] holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.Matthew5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

@Shane: If you'll pull out your handy, dandy concordance/dictionary, you'll find that the word "Lord" was translated that way instead of his Holy Name. The resaon for this is because people were pretty much scared to say his Holy Name out loud back then for fear of accusations of taking his Holy Name in vain. I hope clarifies things for you.
Chris's comment on 2/04/2011, 1:25am...
Lou - The Old Testament is there for more than remembrance, it is still in effect. We are still expected to obey and follow the Old Testament Laws, statutes, and Feasts - even under grace. This is stated throughout the New Testament, it's how you show your faith and love - by being obedient.
1 John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1 John 2:3-4 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
There are many, many others as well, but you get the idea. In fact, a real clear example is the book of Revelation.
Revelation 12:17 ... And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12... Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 22:14... Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
The devil (dragon) wages war during the Tribulation Period with those that keep the commandments AND have faith in Christ. The saints are those that keep the commandments AND have faith in Christ. True belief requires BOTH.
I'm hope this helps, and clears up some of the misconceptions about the laws being done away with.

"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." Ex - 20,7
Surely this scripture contradicts itself, to not take gods name in vain why use a title here "lord" and not his name that is jehovah, psalm 83:18
Sylvia's comment on 9/29/2010, 9:41pm...
As in Israel's day and in our day the Ten Commandments are based on two principles. The first four is love to God and the last six is love to our neighbour or fellowmen. If we follow them (all ten) there will not be so much evil in the world as there is now.
Andiswa's comment on 7/03/2010, 9:00am...
I love verse 20 of this chapter because for me it states clearly what the fear of the Lord is. When the people were afraid and complaining to Moses, he told them that the Lord had done this so that they fear God and not sin. This brings me to the conclusion that the fear of the Lord is not sining. May the Lord help up all to fear him.
