- King James Bible "Authorized Version", Cambridge Edition
3:14 And God said - Two names God would now be known by. A name that speaks what he is in himself, I am that I am - This explains his name Jehovah, and signifies, 1st, That he is self - existent; he has his being of himself, and has no dependence upon any other. And being self - existent he cannot but be self - sufficient, and therefore all - sufficient, and the inexhaustible fountain of being and bliss. 2dly, That he is eternal and unchangeable, always the same, yesterday to - day, and for ever: he will be what he will be, and what he is. 3dly. That he is faithful and true to all his promises, unchangeable in his word as well as in his nature, and not a man that he should lie. Let Israel know this, I am hath sent me unto you. A name that speaks what he is to his people. Lest that name I am should puzzle them, he is farther directed to make use of another name of God, more familiar.

Exodus 3:14 - Answer the fundamental question of Deity. I am That I am simply means He The Mosh High God Who was in the beginning Elohim, Yahweh, Jehovah and then Jesus Christ (or Emmanuel) is now The Holy Spirit period.

Praise Jehovah God, the self existent one, and when Moses ask whom shall I say sent me, tell them that the I Am have sent thee. The Hebrew name for Jehovah is Yahweh. God who is from everlasting to everlasting, and never dependent on anyone. Therefore we are secure in Him, and can be sure that He will never change, and is the same today, and forevermore.

I love this chapter, because we are so intricately entwined with God and in His image that, He allows us to describe ourselves and circumstances in the same manner. I am strong Joel 3:10, I am wonderfully and fearfully made, Ps139:14. Using I am to describe yourself with a negative connotation is using the Lord's name in vain! So one cannot say I am broke because that's not what/who God is! Describe yourself positively regardless of situations or feelings.
