On Baptism? You'd better know this...Mark 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. ...In case you have not noticed those are BOTH "Baptisms" spoken of by John who was sent to speak truth. The Old way,and the NEW is announced here. Please note Christ does not dunk us in water yet INDEED baptizes us as John said. He. Missed a verse? All these result in a Baptism by Christ the Holy SPIRIT is that Baptism, Living Water, washed. filled Verses..Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved........1 John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. ...1 John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. ...Could go on for days... Nothing overturns what He hath given. Men of the world do not see the Spirit or know God made the saved Holy.
  • Compare this and 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 "the mystery of lawlessness", and Colossians 3:5-7, with 1 John 3:4, which us the definition of sin. Furthermore, the whole letter of 1 John ties God's law together with love. An analogy would be: An Archer who is aiming at the target of righteousness God's ten commandments , contrasted with the one who is aiming at another target unrighteousness . Neither hit the bullseye perfectly 100 of the time, but each practice shooting one or the other target.

Paul's statement here in verse 8 " For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:", does not negate, cancel out, or make null and void our need to be baptized in the name of Jesus in order to receive forgiveness of sins, as he shared with the disciples of John the Baptist he met in Acts 19:1-6. In its proper context here, Paul is pointing all glory back to the one who made salvation a possibility for us who were dead in our trespasses and sins. Simply put, Christ didn't have to become the sacrifice and if he did not, there would be nothing that we could ever do to change our eternal destination. However, because he did die and paid the price for our sins, in the book of Acts, when the disciples, on order from Jesus were confronted by people needing salvation they always spell out quite clearly and simplistically what one must do. 1. REPENT 2. BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS 3. RECEIVE THE IN-FILLING OF GOD'S SPIRIT EVIDENCED BY SPEAKING IN OTHER TONGUES AS HIS SPIRIT PROVIDES THE WORDS. These instruction that were given by Peter with the eleven Apostles in agreement , Phillip, Ananias, Paul, ect. in the the book of Acts.
