Wesley's Notes for Deuteronomy 30:19

30:19 Chuse life - They shall have life that chuse it: they that chuse the favour of God, and communion with him, shall have what they chuse. They that come short of life and happiness, must thank themselves only. They had had them, if they had chosen them, when they were put to their choice: but they die, because they will die.

It does mean that along with us, our line "MAY" accept the Lord, as it says. We will teach them of Him. They will have free choice, of course.

Verse 19. "...choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" Q: Does this say that if I choose Jesus (speaking as a NT believer) then my seed will for certain not die without hearing the Gospel.. to choose life, to choose Jesus? If this is not what is being said, then why even make note of my "seed"?
  • Roger Daub
I believe that it is very applicable to the people of God today, just as it was to the people of Israel then. We need to follow the leading of the Word and the Holy Spirit. We must choose life, which comes in Christ Jesus, not doctrine.

God gives us the choice and then makes a promise. Over and over again the Lord wants to bless us, but we must choose to listen and obey!
