The Word to consider first and foremost is Strong. I looked up adjectives for the opposite and came up with so many but will list a few: weak, indifferent, feeble, ineffective inactive, sluggish, Moderate, unhealthy, impotent, etc. Paul is encouraging young Timothy to be strong grounded, effective, immovable, able, fixed, trustworthy etc but not in his own strength or abilities, but in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Grace has to do with the finished work of God through Christ. This Grace is free and makes us victorious. We see the same in Ephesians 6:10 where as believers we are encouraged to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might to be able to withstand any form of opposition in the physical and spiritual realm. Hence, Timothy was to rely on the finished work of Christ whereby every enemy of the gospel has been defeated through the sacrifice of the lamb. Grace in this context is relying on what has already been done in order not to waiver or be discouraged.

But thou hast mercy upon all; for thou canst do all things, and winkest at the sins of men, because they should amend. (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) (for he is faithful that promised;) (by grace ye are saved;) The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: (he is Lord of all:)

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
