Wesley's Notes for 2 Corinthians 6:18

6:18 And ye shall be to me for sons and for daughters, saith the Lord Almighty - The promise made to Solomon, #1Chr 28:6|, is here applied to all believers; as the promise made particularly to Joshua is applied to them, #Heb 13:5|. Who can express the worth, who can conceive the dignity, of this divine adoption? Yet it belongs to all who believe the gospel, who have faith in Christ. They have access to the Almighty; such free and welcome access, as a beloved child to an indulgent father. To him they may fly for aid in every difficulty, and from him obtain a supply in all their wants. #Isaiah 43:6|.

People's Bible Notes for 2 Corinthians 6:18

2Co 6:18 And I will be a Father unto you. Quoted from Jer 31:1,9 Isa 43:6, and other passages. It is a free combination of the spirit of several passages. The two passages teach that it is the Divine will that his worshipers should be separate from the world; that if they are thus separate he will receive them, and will accept them as his own children. Compare Ro 12:2 Jas 1:27.

i cannot be a believer and love the world nor the things in it; Jesus warned me about idolatry and i cannot be a sin free true christian and buddy around with a disobedient one-my love will go cold.Compromise has sent many OF US TO HELLFIRE-if Jesus loved me with all his heart i also ought to love Him with all mine and i hate failing in this-pray for me for sacrificing for Jesus sometimes not easy.

It is saying come from among the people that is not good in your life. The unbeliever will try to stir you away from God if your not strong enough. The christian who is a busy body in the church that is always stirring something up they gossip and always talking about leadership. You have to separate yourself from them because they will make you missed what God have for you.

This world is not our home so why get comfortable here. We do not belong here if we are Christians. It is like visiting. It is not our home and we dont belong so we dont make ourself too comfortable.

Teaches me that sometimes all we can do is pray for our loved ones as we do strangers so we don't get dragged into unrighteousness. Sometimes I just have to let go n leave it to God as he promises his comfort for me. God is great in his every word.
  • unbelievers also include your family my children who are adults now do not believe in the Lord I see them to talk about the Lord but I don't go to their parties or dinners I pray for their salvation.

We must meditate his words day and night all things that we need will be added and we will be always prosper. Listening to his words are more powerful than prayers. Our prayers must be completed with thanksgiving and praising God for his love endures forever. His love and mercy is always with us. Thanks to Jesus for his precious blood that shed for us. Amen
