People's Bible Notes for 2 Corinthians 4:18

2Co 4:18 While we look not at things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. Our eyes are fixed on the unseen things beyond, the glory that the flesh cannot behold. Hence, we turn away from present afflictions as momentary, as belonging to the seen and the transient, and only regard them as adding to the weight of our unseen, eternal joys. Our goal is beyond. For the things which are seen [are] temporal. All material things, and all that the world values, are perishing. All things of sense shall pass away; Caesar's greatness, the might of Roman power, the strength of man, the glory of the magnificence of Corinth; even the visible heavens and the earth. But the things which are not seen [are] eternal. The things which the sense see not, but which faith reveals--God, heaven, the unseen spirit. Let the eye be turned upon the unseen, rather than the things of sense.

WHY MUST WE NOT LOSE HEART AS BELIEVERS OF CHRIST??? PAUL WHO WROTE THIS VERSE WENT THROUGH SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST! HE WAS NOT ONLY BEATEN AND THROWN OUT OF CITIES, HE WROTE MOST OF HIS MESSAGES IN PRISON! IF ANYBODY HAD A REASON TO LOSE HEART ON HIS MINISTRY PAUL HAD ONE! BUT PAUL REALIZED THAT EVEN THOUGH HE WAS BOUND, THE WORD IS NEVER BOUND! HE ALSO NEW IT WAS ONLY THROUGH THE MERCY OF GOD HE HAD THIS MINISTRY! WE AS BELIEVERS TODAY CANNOT LOSE HEART CAUSE WHATEVER GOD BEGAN WITH US HE WILL FINISH! WHEN JESUS WAS ON THE CROSS LOOKING BATTERED AND FORSAKEN SAID HIS FAMOUS LAST WORDS, "IT IS FINISHED"! MEANING NO MATTER WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE RIGHT NOW JUST KNOW THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, "IT IS FINISHED"! AMEN! GLORY BE TO GOD!!!!

What more can we add to the comment of Lakeaffex's... If the world could only realize that real life will be lived after we've learned our lessons in this life, but most of the time we think that what we see will last and we gather things that will not last, the things that we not see will enrich our lives and most of all the Love of our Redeemer Jesus Christ.... that will last forever, Thank God for that!
  • Lakeaffex for verse 4
So many people these days, use their philosophies to refute Christians and the Bible, saying there is no God. But they have deceived themselves. They do believe in god, not the God of the Bible, but the god of themselves. They have put themselves on the throne of their hearts, deciding what is right and wrong, what is truth and what is error. Of course, this god changes attributes from person to person because what may be right to one is not necessarily right for another, shifting sand in practice. But, their god s all share a common denominator, they arise from the original exalter of himself, Satan. I will says the god of this world. As Christians we should humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that we should be exalted in due time. Put Christ on the throne of your heart, bow the knee, He is the true God and the firm foundation to build your life upon. He is the truth the life and the way!
