3:16 So because thou art lukewarm - The effect of lukewarm water is well known. I am about to spue thee out of my mouth - I will utterly cast thee from me; that is, unless thou repent.

Re 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm. This lukewarmness was most offensive, and hence the Lord declares I will spue thee out of my mouth. They shall be rejected like nauseous food. The figure indicates loathing.
