(this is a scan from the exact, authentic, original 1611 'HE' King James Bible)

1 Wisedome hath builded her house: she hath hewen out her seuen pillars.

2 She hath killed her beastes; she hath mingled her wine: she hath also furnished her table.

3 She hath sent forth her maidens; she cryeth vpon the highest places of the citie.

4 Who so is simple, let him turne in hither: as for him that wanteth vnderstanding, she sayth to him:

5 Come, eate of my bread, and drinke of the wine, which I haue mingled.

6 Forsake the foolish, and liue; and goe in the way of vnderstanding.

7 He that reproueth a scorner, getteth to himselfe shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man, getteth himselfe a blot.

8 Reproue not a scorner, lest hee hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and hee will loue thee.

9 Giue instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a iust man, and he will increase in learning.

10 The feare of the Lord is the beginning of wisedome: and the knowledge of the holy is vnderstanding.

11 For by me thy dayes shall be multiplied: and the yeeres of thy life shalbe increased.

12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thy selfe: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt beare it.

13 ¶ A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, & knoweth nothing.

14 For she sitteth at the doore of her house on a seate, in the high places of the Citie:

15 To call passengers who go right on their wayes:

16 Who so is simple, let him turne in hither: and as for him that wanteth vnderstanding, she saith to him;

17 Stollen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18 But hee knoweth not that the dead are there, and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

Ros's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment on 5/09/2013, 4:45am...

I say, why ask God for something that we already have in Christ and with the Holy Spirit? Isa. 11:2 If we have the same spirit, and just as He was so are we in this world, and the same works that He did so shall we also and greater. We should rather learn who we are in Him first, what He has already given us, and ask how do I use what I already have to your Glory and the benefit of those you send us....

Gbolahan Abiodun's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment on 2/16/2013, 7:59am...

The God that we serve is the great God- He is also very hospitable. These are distinctly and very noticeable in this Proverbs 9. Interestingly, He chooses to speak to us through Solomon the man of the book of Proverbs, in this particular book- and He refers to the fact that Wisdom has built her house and she has hewn out seven pillars. In other words, she has carefully shaped and put in place her pillars, as a matter of fact, more than what a skilful craftsman would do.. And that is that He has prepared a table before you and I in the terrain of the Holy Spirit for spiritual feasting. What meaneth this? Well, all these point to the fact that there is feast that God has prepared for they that love and believe Him through Jesus Christ- and that is on the other side of Jordan. However, on this planet earth, there is an encouraging invitation to feast on the Word of God. In fact, there is the milk of the Word of God, highly inherent in it- and that is for baby Christians and then the meat of the Word is there as well for grownups! In addition to that, there is also the washing of the water through the Word. That purely refers to the aspect of purification and sanctification. In fact, there is also the onion and pepper of it, if you would- and it is only for whosoever believeth. He has also mingled His wine and demands that we forsake foolishness- and that we crave and thirst for the things that the Holy Spirit dispenses and administers. The intent of all these, is that we can be rest assured that He that rescued and delivered us through Jesus Christ of Nazareth- he has also made available, no matter where you and I are, a place that has semblance with the garden of Eden, as it was, in the creation story- and that is in the opening books of Genesis. However, it is only for the discerned; for there are things therein that pertains to the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. May the LORD God, send showers on His church, true revelation and understanding of these things. He that walketh with the wise cannot but have something that would rub on them- and that is the biblical order of righteousness and godliness.

Randolph Vance JR's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment on 12/14/2012, 3:16pm...

The fear (from the Hebrew translated as "reverential awe and respect for") of the Lord is the BEGINNING of wisdom. In other words, in the mind of GOD, without that a person is spiritually at ground zero. Of course, accepting Jesus as our Saviour and Lord is the act of humility which exemplifies that starting point of reverential fear in one's life.

Timothy Wayne George's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment on 10/09/2012, 6:20am...

Proverbs 9:17 : The foolish woman says stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. Yet the man who lacks understanding does not know that the dead are there. Her guests are in the depths of hell. Do not respond to her, for open rebuke is better than secret love. Rejoice with the wife of thy youth, and always be glad for her love. The pleasures of sin are but for a moment. Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed holy. Adulterers and fornicators will be judged. Flee youthful lust, and follow after righteousness, with those out of a pure heart. Thank God that when we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Remember what Jesus did when tempted, He quoted scripture. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

HARRY ALLISON's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment on 6/09/2012, 5:36am...

above everything, search out WISDOM.THE INS AND OUTS OF LIFE ARE HARD ENOUGH without it.PROVERBS is a great place to start.JESUS IS GOD!PRAISE HIM.

Stephen's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment on 5/28/2012, 5:52am...

The fear of the lord is not wisdom but the begining of wisdom.wisdom comes from GOD(james1:5).Therefore to have wisdom we need to ask GOD just like solomon himself did.

Tessag's Proverbs Chapter 9 comment about verse 2 on 3/09/2012, 6:28am...

Wisdom is getting ready for a party! She's certainly not trying to drive anyone away, but to entice or coax them to come to her.
