God loved us enough that he gave his Only son that we may have ever lasting life . And not spend all eternity in the depths of Hell . So we have to live right and lean on God for help and ask him for forgiveness when we do wrong . Sin is our nature we are gonna sin no matter how hard we try not to , Although we can ask God to help us and forgive us of our sin we never can be Perfect like Him ! I love God so much , Ive came a long way . I used to not care , And i've tried to Commit Suicide many of times , God loved me enough that he didnt want me to die , And i thank him so much for that beucase if i was dead i would have never gotten to see my baby sister turn 5 or too see my baby cousin turn 1 . God Is Great , God Can Save , And He Will ! And One Day He Is Comming Back !

PEACE UNTO WHOEVER FOLLOW THE TRUE GUIDANCE:
Why this verse which is the pillar of Christinity thrown out the Revised Standard Version of the bible and why in some bibles the word "begotten" is changed to "unique".
And why would the loving GOD has to be sacrifice is only "begotten/unique" son to save the mankind. That does not sound fair for the loving and just GOD!

God gave to me a sinner His ONLY Son and all I have to do is BELIEVE to have Everlasting Life with Him.
That is so awesome that My Heavenly Father Loves Me a sinner so much. I am so thankful I excepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in April of 1977.

Even if the begotten is taken away from the bible(NRSV),brother you need to understand that he is not denied the deity and son of God in all the versions. Its taken away only to make you understand better rather than make it ambiguous. You need to notice that jesus was prophecised in Rig veda ,yagurva veda. Also in Quran its found that he is the only holy man on earth till date.this is because God in Flesh.Only God can be holy.

this \"begotten\" was never in the original script.. so it is thrown out in the new RSV version. It is pathetic to see that even though jesus never said it, the original manuscript did not say it, and yet you want to interpolate the verse to fit your \"wishful thinking\" that somebody was sacrified for your sin. all will die and all will be raised.. and then it would be too late for the major sin of making partner onto GOD who is alone. and in bible itself jesus said many times, do not worship other than god and yet instead of listening to him, you listen to some body , \"according to\", \"unknown\" etc..
read your bible.. not what \"some\" say..but read what jesus said.. what moses said.. use your brain that was given by GOD..

V.16. Precious! The word \"begotten\" is supported by the original \"monogenae\", which is defined as \"peculiar generation\" (belonging to genetically). Adam was the created son of God (Lu.3:38) and believers are now the (adopted) sons of God(1 Jn.3:2), but no others were begotten sons of God, borne by a human mother.
To \"believe\" means to trust in and rely on, rather than just mental assent of a fact. The devils also believe and tremble (Js.2:19) but the promise is not extended to them.
I suppose this everlasting life and exemption from perishing is for now during this life. When Moses lifted up the serpent (v.14) the ill were healed imediately, not after they died. Although unbelievers are condemned already (v.18) because of Adam\'s sin, this promise says believers \"HAVE\" eternal life presently. \"The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death (Rom.8:2). Maybe there is more freedom from the results of the fall available by \"believing\" and applying the promises than we have been aware of.

What does Jesus say about faith? \"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.\" (John 3:16-18) What does Jesus say about them who believe not? \"But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.\" (John 10:26-29) Jesus said, \"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. (John 12:46-48) \"Without faith it is impossible to please [God]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is...\" (Hebrews 11:6) Jesus came. People saw. People heard. Some believed. Their hearing and seeing Jesus led to belief; their belief on what they heard, saw, and believed became their faith. \"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.\" (Romans 10:17)

John 3:16 is my favorite verse in the bible. It tells you how much he loved you just to die on the cross for you. He died for everyone\'s sins.

This verse is tormenting me all the time because, when it says that God has us as the world that He sent His only begotten son, and when we pronounce the word \"begotten\" implies that there was relationship between two people to be able to generate (a word which are used for animal sex). Can not he just say \"his only son.\" That comes to the word \"begotten\" in this verse. enlighten me on this subject.

This Chapter shows that God the Almighty has mankind in mind always. It also shows that there is hope for mankind and that God the Creator has not abandoned human race. The chapter also shows how God our Heavenly Father place value on human race by sending His only begotten son to come and die for us, so that we can be reconciled to Him in fellowship and live eternally.

Is it "SHALL NOT PERISH" or "SHOULD NOT PERISH" in John 3:16 and what is the difference between them, and what does "should not" imply.
Timothy Wayne George's comment on 2012-11-27 18:54:56:
Jesus is the Son of God, the alpha and the omega. The Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. God in eternity past, knew that Adam would sin, so he sent his one, and only Son to atone for the sin of all mankind. So Jesus had to become a man, so that he could die as a propitiation for man. When we accept this by faith, we are given eternal life, and we will not perish.

Tim Kelton's comment on 2012-12-17 10:50:51:
@Victor,
To answer your question. The 1611 KJV says "should not perish", to inject the word "shall" changes the meaning and implies that I can believe in Jesus and him crucified, live like I want to, and still make it to heaven. Other versions than King James Version bible were written to create false loop holes in the spiritual world. Jesus says, "No Man can pluck from his hand", correct? But what's to keep you from jumping yourself out of the hand of Jesus? Thus the word, "should" is correct. I "should" not perish, but I "might" if I don't live as Jesus tells me to. Free will is still our choice to serve or not to serve. Food for thought: On the day of judgment, there will be some who have known Jesus and have done many wonderful works in His name, but yet He will tell them I know ye not, ye worker of evil. "Should" is the correct word! Jesus would have to allow them into heaven if the word was "Shall". Thanks for asking this great question, Victor. God Bless you!

John 3:16 tells the whole story of why God sent His Son to the world. Just so that those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior will be able to spend eternity with Him. The word should let us know that we have to confess and repent from our sins, and then we shall have eternal life. Thank God, our Father for Jesus!
