Wesley's Notes for James 4:4

4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses - Who have broken your faith with God, your rightful spouse. Know ye not that the friendship or love of the world - The desire of the flesh, the desire of the eye, and the pride of life, or courting the favour of worldly men, is enmity against God? Whosoever desireth to be a friend of the world - Whosoever seeks either the happiness or favour of it, does thereby constitute himself an enemy of God; and can he expect to obtain anything of him?

People's Bible Notes for James 4:4

Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses. Adulterous spouses of Christ who commit fornication with the world. It is spiritual adultery that is meant. The friendship of the world is enmity with God. Since the prince of this world is opposed to Christ and the spirit of the world is also opposed, one cannot love the ways of the world and love God also. "Ye cannot serve God and mammon" (Mt 6:24).

We must be Born Again in Spirit and not in the flesh. Jesus will help us to humble ourselves if we surrender ourselves to him and accept Jesus as our Savior. there is nothing hard for God to change us and bless us and to give us strenght when we are weak. All battles belongs to Jesus and victorious belongs to us. If God is with us who can be againsts us? Thanked to the blood of Jesus shed for us.

It's easy to love those who already love you, but to love the unlovely that's what Jesus also tried to do and I know it's our job too to try that, a very humble and difficult task, but we know , If we humble ourselves before the Lord, we can do all things Thru Jesus, which strengthens us!

Our loving Father God instructions on the approach we should take in our daily walk with Him. We must submit our desires, aspirations, plans, actions, speech, relationships, emotions, weaknesses and failures to Him. It is through this submission which indicates our recognition and admission of our need for the Lords guidance and protection that we will recognise the presence of the devil in our lives and through our closeness to God will be connected to the power of the Holy Spirit which gives us the wisdom and the strength to resist and rebuke the devil. Thank you Jesus for your saving power which has made this possible and easily accessible.
