1 Let vs therefore feare, lest a promise being left vs, of entring into his rest, any of you should seeme to come short of it.

2 For vnto vs was the Gospel preached, as well as vnto thē: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 For we which haue beleeued do enter into rest, as hee said, As I haue sworne in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest, although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For he spake in a certaine place of the seuenth day on this wise: And God did rest the seuenth day from all his works.

5 And in this place againe: If they shall enter into my rest.

6 Seeing therfore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached, entred not in because of vnbeleefe:

7 Againe, hee limiteth a certaine day, saying in Dauid, To day, after so long a time; as it is saide, To day if ye will heare his voyce, harden not your hearts.

8 For if Iesus had giuen them rest, then would he not afterward haue spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entred into his rest, hee also hath ceased from his owne works, as God did from his.

11 Let vs labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of vnbeleefe.

12 For the word of God is quicke and powerfull, and sharper then any two edged sword, pearcing euen to the diuiding asunder of soule and spirit, and of the ioynts and marrowe, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked, and opened vnto the eyes of him with whome wee haue to doe.

14 Seeing then that wee haue a great high Priest, that is passed into the heauens, Iesus the Sonne of God, let vs hold fast our profession.

15 For wee haue not an high Priest which cannot bee touched with the feeling of our infirmities: but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sinne.

16 Let vs therefore come boldly vnto the throne of grace, that wee may obtaine mercy, and finde grace to helpe in time of need.

The word of God,is so pure and edifying ! You can either allow it Help & Heal you (Belief)or Hurt & Harm(Disbelief.

PROPHETESS PEARL's Hebrews Chapter 4 comment on 5/15/2013, 12:50am...

If we abide in Jesus and He abide in us and if we beleive his word and do not doubt we can have the rest in the Lord Jesus Christ, which also consist of the Peace of God. We must get out of the flesh because in our flesh dwelleth no good thing. god gives us peace that passeth all understanding. If we beleive we have rest in Jesus Christ.

@Reggie,
May I suggest, letting the Bible explain Hebrews 4: 9, 10.
“9 There remains therefore a rest to the people of God”. The word “rest” in original Greek is “Sabbatismo” from which we get the word ”Sabbath” or the seventh day. This matches perfectly with what verse 10 says: “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.” Here is that account: Genesis 2 “1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” Though the Jews kept the seventh day Sabbath, it is not a Jewish sacred day only; it belongs to all of us. It is not a punishment but a privilege. And keeping the Sabbath Day holy is not an option either: It is the fourth of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20). Jesus, our Creator gave us the Sabbath at the end of the Creation Week. He kept it holy while on earth, and he bids us to teach all nations “whatsoever I have commanded you” Matthew 28:19, 20. Here is a promise to those who keep it: “If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words; Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD… for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it”. Isaiah 58: 13, 14. This Sabbath Day will also be celebrated in God’s New Kingdom: “And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 66:23. Now, how we celebrate the Sabbath is another issue.

The altars were meant for people to pray and talk to Jesus, there he takes our burdens and helps our infirmities.

Harry Robinson's Hebrews Chapter 4 comment on 1/25/2013, 7:39pm...

The Rest of God means that we no longer have to make sacrifices for our sin, because WE live by faith not by sight.

Reggie's Hebrews Chapter 4 comment on 1/16/2013, 6:56am...

The "REST" of God is not "keeping" anything or any special day, it is a state of surrender and trust, in the One who is keeping you. Agape. – Reggie.
