Discussion for Exodus 16

  • Hi Rachel, I am a seventh day Adventist - Sabbath is on Saturday. Jews kept it and still do ever so methodically. Sunday as the rest of holy day was instituted a few hundred years after Christ's death. Sunday observance is not biblical. It is an invention. Jesus kept Sabbth so did his disciples before and after his death. The only way Roman Catholics or other Christian denominations justify keeping Sunday as Sabbath and some even call it Sabbath is by saying Jesus rose on Sunday - let's celebrate it - but this is a human invention. Roman Catholic Church even proves that Protestant church adhere to Catholicism by keeping Sunday holy. Other Christian denominations say it doesn't matter which day you worship God on - so long as you do. But God did not sanctify Sunday or bless. I chose to marry and love and cherish just one specific woman - not any other. So there are endless theories out there as to why Sunday should be the day - but the truth remains: it is not in the bible - it's false. I was Christian orthodox Eastern Europe and when I heard about Saturday being the last day of the week - the holy day - I was so blown away - and I decided that I did not want to be orthodox Christian anymore. I was in my early teens and I am 32 now - it has been by far the one decision that I like very very much.

Fern Herbert, you are seeing the issue from a biblical perspective. However, I would advise all to also consider what Jesus Christ said Christ said concerning the sabbath Mark. 2:27 "and he-Jesus-said, the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath ". Some people need to work on the sabbath to feed their families. God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Praise Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

God admonished the Israelites not to store up manna for the next day. Matthew tells us that we should not worry about what we should eat etc. The father knows our needs and by faith we are to trust him daily for all things.

My take from this, we should prepare our Sabbath meals the day before.so then it is wrong to cook dinner on Sunday? It would also be wrong to eat out,as so many families do after church, because we are causing other people to work to prepare our meals. Am I seeing this right?
  • Feeling that the Father asks us for 1 10 of our time to be devoted to Him in thanks and praise. 1 10 of our waking hours is practically one full day minus the time it takes to eat and attend to our personal needs. By doing this consistently, we learn how to live the rest of our time in the mindset of nurturing our relationship with Him, and wanting to please Him by our actions on a daily basis.
