22:5 Shall not wear - Namely, ordinarily or unnecessarily, for in some cases this may be lawful, as to make an escape for one's life. Now this is forbidden, both for decency sake, that men might not confound those sexes which God hath distinguished, that all appearance of evil might be avoided, such change of garments carrying a manifest sign of effeminacy in the man, of arrogance in the woman, of lightness and petulancy in both; and also to cut off all suspicions and occasions of evil, which this practice opens a wide door to.

I beleive in those days and culture a man and womans cloths was spisificly and differently made for man and woman. I believe that this verse is referring to women who purposely try to look as manly as possible. Many lesbians are guilty of this. I beleive the Bible is the infalliable, inspired Word of God and it is literal. It says what it means and means what it says. I recently studied this verse for myself as I had been confused and drawn away from my conviction to dress as a lady of God. I believe that God has created men and ladies differently and He expects us to be different in ALL ways including dress. I will take it a step further and say that I believe God does not want ladies to do a man\'s work, walk like a man, talk like a man, etc---it was not intended this way from the beginning. It is not good to judge but The point is plain and clear woman should not use what is of men and men should not use what is of woman because it is an abomination. Taking a careful look av the word abomination we can see that the consequences of people violating it is great, which may even lead to death, so biblically it may hinder any and sex that use what is of opposite sex not to enter the kingdom of God. If you want to go into details...we were not clothed at all in the beginning. God created Adam and Eve to wear no clothes. Pants and dresses did not exist then... So that is easy to see that God meant something else. People have a tendency, when they don't agree with something, to look it up in the bible and take a verse totally out of context to fit their comfort zone. Sometimes that comfort zone even stems from hate. We truly know that Jesus is NOTING but LOVE, and he loves us all. But, you can still find closed minded people that will take a verse and try and say else wise. Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean that God has or had your same point of view. He loves us ALL...POINT BLANK!!! He would not send us to hell for wearing clothes that don't supposedly pertain to our gender. If that were the case then He would have wiped out everyone back, because they ALL wear the same type of garment... a robe... sandals...no difference. Jesus’ Mercy goes far beyond our measure... and you are denying that by your closed minded views on His word. Just keep in mind that we all sin... and sin is sin... we are ALL saved who accept Him as our Lord and Savior and do our best to be more like Him each day. He says we will still be sinning up till He returns. God's word is infallible. We should ask ourselves; when did women begin to wear pants? Does the word 'unisex' ring any bell? What about 'gender equality'? All these came began to surface at the advent of the Feminist Movement of the Twentieth Century which was borne out of supposedly marginalization of the womenfolk. I do not want to go into details. You can do some research on this. My major concern is that the Devil is always opposed to God's word with his infamous "...hath God said..."(Genesis 3:1) but the Church is ignorant of his devices! Women began to wear pants to show that "what a man can do, a woman can do even better"! This is against Scriptures which say women are weaker vessels (1 Peter 3:17). This is the way of the world and we are NOT to love it (1 John 2:15). A man reacts to what he sees, a woman to what she hears. Today, women have gone out of their way not to wear pants alone, but even to wear 'sexy' pants that only reveal parts of their bodies. This is evil in God's sight and the whole of Christendom should rise up against this device of the Enemy to manipulate the Church. What the Spirit says, he who has ears let him hear! Deuteronomy 22:5 is quite clear for the understanding of the simple but our ignorance may not allow our horizon to be broadened. At first, what pertaineth to an opposite sex is abnormal to be worn. How can my girlfriend wear my clothe? It’s wrong! Any clothe that has been worn by a man should not be repeated by a woman. We are different in physique and nature therefore we shouldn\'t interwear clothes, that\'s my understanding of the verse. Moses here is speaking of the identity of the two genders, and it is a comparison to nature. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 is reiterating the same principle in the church age that we read here in this passage. Isaiah tells us how God clothed the heavens, and continues to do so. In the Matthew and Luke passages, we see that God still has the same nature for grasses that existed thousands of years ago.
