think this clearly indicates that women should not wear pants. I intend to change my attire, lest I cause anyone to stumble.

I was told if we live by the old testament we would fall from grace. This verse is in the old about wearing anything that pertains to a man

I beleive in those days and culture a man and womans cloths was spisificly and differently made for man and woman. Today man and womans clothes are still made spesiicly for men and woman, but most of the clothes today are made to be worn by either man or woman... So no a woman wearing pants is not wrong.
Charity Evans's comment on 2011-07-14 06:49:46:
Yes, it means that women should not wear pants nor men shirts nor anything pertaining to men. \"Being made specifically - or not\" is only modifying the disgust that God sees when a woman dresses in what should be a man\'s; pants are for men. Women ought to look like women even from a distance, one does not need look out for womanly bodily features to tell, women ought to dress like women.

I believe this verse pertains to \'cross dressing\', and dishonoring the gender God created you to be.

I don\'t think he i saying women can\'t wear pants...i think he means when u do wear them, wear them as clothing, not to state u r a man, and act like one.

The bible is clear, we as women should not wear anything thing that pertain to a man. When you do reseach you will find that women wore dresses and skirts for 6,000 years, it was when the up rising of the feminist when pants were worn as a sign they were a feminist and that they were rebelling againist the word of god. We should believe the whole word of god and not just the new and not the old(testiments). Pants were made for men to wear only. Have you notice that on the bathroom door it has a woman with a dress on and a man with pants on? The world even know unconciencly that a woman suppose to wear dresses!!! I rather do what the word of god say than man, because man can\'t put you in heaven but god can! The bible says if you love me you will keep my commandments,
it just did stop at his commandments its all of his word. Search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life; its in the word of god. Women should not wear anything, that pertainth to a man, I don\'t care what man say, its what god says that matter, what man is wiser than the god almighty jesus christ?
Kim's comment on 2011-10-15 13:10:38:
I believe that this verse is referring to women who purposely try to look as manly as possible. Many lesbians are guilty of this. If a woman wears modest feminine looking pants, how is she trying to appear as a man? I\'ve known many Godly women who love and serve the Lord who have short hair and wear pants. It\'s what\'s in our hearts that God cares about the most.
Michael Snead's comment on 2011-12-23 18:40:36:
I believe that God expects us to be different from one another (man vs Woman - Sinner vs Christian ) If we set ourselves out to be different from the world, we will be blessed. You can let your flesh control what you do determines your blessings. Questions? contact me @ Michael Stephen Snead on Facebook.

I believe that it\'s very wrong to give your opinion when it comes to the word of God. I believe that God wants us to rightly divide the word when sharing it with others. So, I will give you a rightly divided answer to Deut 22:5. \"geber\" heb word for man Strong\'s concordance #h1397 means, strong man, warrior( emphasizing strenght or ability to fight).
\"Keliy\" hebrew word for \"pertaineth\" strong\'s # h3615 means: articles, vessels, utensils such as: hunting or war, of music, tool (of labour), equipment, yoke(of oxen), utensils, furniyure. This should open your eyes of a more understanding to Deut 22:5, Thanks Larry

I beleive the Bible is the infalliable, inspired Word of God and it is literal. It says what it means and means what it says. I recently studied this verse for myself as I had been confused and drawn away from my conviction to dress as a lady of God. I believe that God has created men and ladies differently and He expects us to be different in ALL ways including dress. I will take it a step further and say that I believe God does not want ladies to do a man\'s work, walk like a man, talk like a man, etc---it was not intended this way from the beginning. Ladies are to be the weaker vessel--a help meet to their own husband...meek, modest, and Godly.

I really believe this was talking about homosexuality and lesbianisn.. Women taking on the roll of a man and man taking on the roll of a woman..This verse has nothing to do with woman wearing pant to church. Also realize pants were not invented at that time.
What the men wore under their robes I haven\'t a clue, what the woman wore under their robes, i still don\'t have a clue. But it is not about the clothes you wear that will save and sanctify you its what\'s in the heart that counts. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.
If you search this further it was also relaying to the future not the present time in Deut.
I am a pastor and I am not hung up on women wearing pants to church, I m after the hearts and soul. If women are to be convict of wearing pants let the Word of God deal with them not you.
The bible said to study the word, research the word..don\'t just pick out a certain sentence you want to specify and leave out the meat of the verse. This verse pertains to women and men. Not just the women. tk for listening:)

It is not good to judge but The point is plain and clear woman should not use what is of men and men should not use what is of woman because it is an abomination. Taking a careful look av the word abomination we can see that the consequences of people violating it is great, which may even lead to death, so biblically it may hinder any and sex that use what is of opposite sex not to enter the kingdom of God. The bible say anybody that violates small of the commandment has violated all and the bible also says all unrighteous is sin. It\'s advisable to abstain from it. Thanks, may God help up all.

Old testament is for God\'s chosen people to follow. If they (Jews) cannot follow EVERY LAW, then God GAVE US (Jews & Gentiles) our Lord, Jesus Christ to provide us with Righteousness because we could not, never will be able to live under God\'s Laws and commandments. I am Saved by the perfect blood of my Savior. Believe that Jesus Christ was our sacrifice, given by our Father as a FREE gift, no strings attached, other than Believing and having Faith in His Son, that WHOEVER believe in Him, shall have everlasting life. (period!)

It seems there is more discussion about woman wearing men\'s clothing or pants than men wearing woman\'s clothing or dresses!! If a man has womens clothing in his closet people seem to think that he is weird or strange.
joann's comment on 2012-10-13 11:40:35:
I don\'t want to write what I think but I will. God is not concerned about what we wear so much as he is about our hearts. However, it\'s in the bible for a reason. I believe that he was speaking in a sexual tone. We sometimes take the bible out of context. Today is the day! When I wear pants is it because I think myself to be manly? No! The garment I wear was not made for a man to wear. Although a man wanting to perceive himself as a woman might well wear them. You mean I shouldn\'t wear my husband\'s shirt? Say if I was cleaning my house and I put on his shirt because it was more comfortable. It goes back to the heart or the spirit of which it is worn.
aly's comment on 2012-11-18 19:43:34:
Wasn\'t this just related to God not wanting men to go to pagan temples and worship pagan goddesses by dressing like them?
Jessy's comment on 2012-11-20 10:27:16:
Let everyone of you think for a second, in those days there was nothing as pant or skirt. Men and women wore the same attire. Jesus Christ and his disciples all wore long robes so did the women. Trousers were made by mankind through God\'s wisdom. The truth is that, those who are religious will eventually crumble. Don\'t forget what the bible said about religious people. I will encourage all of you to follow the right spirit which is to believe in God with all your heart and know what God wants. God wants us to love him and only him every other things are for him to judge.
Eddy's comment on 2012-11-23 09:20:46:
It is in the very Bible that nothing shall be added, nor taking away. There is no justification to take away from what is written with one excuse and another. We should all keep to this Deuteronomy 22:5.
Dominic's comment on 2012-12-01 08:07:59:
According to the Bible, God when creating he created every organism according to their own kind and he gave man dominion to all living things. So God he gave us power but not over his word (Bible). So through bad devil spirit which to the humans turned to go against God’s law; allow me to say this issue of dress court is very issue which we must take note of. Nowadays people do not know their gender what makes man to wear woman’s cloth and garment man; to wear devil is entered to the world. People of God watch out.
stephen ojeabu's comment on 2012-12-02 21:44:52:
Let’s keep to the word of God. How many laws of God were violated by Lucifer that God threw him down from heaven? Satan is watching you that is removing from God's Word! be born again, then cultures, opinions of men, "what will people say?", ...will no longer get hold of you. The Holy Ghost is still in the world today. Repent and ask Him to sanctify and fill you. Then all these questions will die. "O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matthew12:34). As a sinner, the first thing you need is deliverance, not argument. REPENT wearing man's garment is ABOMINATION!!!
Jacque's comment on 2012-12-07 12:44:15:
If you want to go into details...we were not clothed at all in the beginning. God created Adam and Eve to wear no clothes. Pants and dresses did not exist then... So that is easy to see that God meant something else. People have a tendency, when they don't agree with something, to look it up in the bible and take a verse totally out of context to fit their comfort zone. Sometimes that comfort zone even stems from hate. We truly know that Jesus is NOTING but LOVE, and he loves us all. But, you can still find closed minded people that will take a verse and try and say else wise. Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean that God has or had your same point of view. He loves us ALL...POINT BLANK!!! He would not send us to hell for wearing clothes that don't supposedly pertain to our gender. If that were the case then He would have wiped out everyone back, because they ALL wear the same type of garment... a robe... sandals...no difference. Jesus’ Mercy goes far beyond our measure... and you are denying that by your closed minded views on His word. Just keep in mind that we all sin... and sin is sin... we are ALL saved who accept Him as our Lord and Savior and do our best to be more like Him each day. He says we will still be sinning up till He returns. What we wear is far less thing to worry about than making sure that our Love for Him is the most important thing in our lives, and that we seek to LOVE OTHERS as well. We encourage, not degrade. Jesus loved despite sin... He didn't call you out...He loved on you...

Why do we have so many hypocrites in the Christendom trying to interpret a simple verse of a whole chapter. Just to suit their darkened mind. All talk had been on pants or trousers. What then do you say about shirts and T-shirts that are been worn by both men and women? Check up on Genesis 3:21. The first tailor who is God Himself clothed both of them alike. Please leave all these jargons and let's move on to perfecting our walk in Christ in this garden of Salvation. Let's work on how to really populate the Kingdom of our Christ by reaching out to the lost. Stop giving heed to all these Jewish Fables, move on to knowing and experiencing the Power of Christ while we await His coming with soberness. God bless us all. Amen
Steve Opara's comment on 2012-12-18 16:33:52:
God's word is infallible. We should ask ourselves; when did women begin to wear pants? Does the word 'unisex' ring any bell? What about 'gender equality'? All these came began to surface at the advent of the Feminist Movement of the Twentieth Century which was borne out of supposedly marginalization of the womenfolk. I do not want to go into details. You can do some research on this. My major concern is that the Devil is always opposed to God's word with his infamous "...hath God said..."(Genesis 3:1) but the Church is ignorant of his devices! Women began to wear pants to show that "what a man can do, a woman can do even better"! This is against Scriptures which say women are weaker vessels (1 Peter 3:17). This is the way of the world and we are NOT to love it (1 John 2:15). A man reacts to what he sees, a woman to what she hears. Today, women have gone out of their way not to wear pants alone, but even to wear 'sexy' pants that only reveal parts of their bodies. This is evil in God's sight and the whole of Christendom should rise up against this device of the Enemy to manipulate the Church. What the Spirit says, he who has ears let him hear! God bless you all.

Why are people concentrating on that verse without looking at Leviticus 19:19. Many of us do not ask for the reason for which a command was giving but insist on arguing wrongly. Many should condemn themselves for most of our clothing is mixed up with two or more materials. I think we should concentrate with the word in the heart of men and leave God to direct his people his way.
Benedict's comment on 2013-02-05 22:12:22:
God is not God of any dress, cloths, styles, cap, pants and bra. He is God of Spirit who lives in intercity . He knew you before you where born, and sees how your life will be. We are no more under the law, but under grace. Be you man or woman you can wear, dress, eat and dink what you like. Death could not hold Him down. So fill happy, people said, bible said, but what did you say. It\'s a thing of the mind and spirit. God is a Spirit, they that worship Him must worship Him in
Spirit and in truth and not in wears. Be wise.

You can’t tell me your heart is clean and you commit abomination. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. So, you can only show out what\'s inside you.
Eric Obika's comment on 2013-02-18 15:22:44:
Deuteronomy 22:5 is quite clear for the understanding of the simple but our ignorance may not allow our horizon to be broadened. At first, what pertaineth to an opposite sex is abnormal to be worn. How can my girlfriend wear my clothe? It’s wrong! Any clothe that has been worn by a man should not be repeated by a woman. We are different in physique and nature therefore we shouldn\'t interwear clothes, that\'s my understanding of the verse. Those saying that women wearing trouser is a sin should read again with understanding. When God gave the command, there was no disparity in terms of clothing. Both sexes wear ropes but that which has been worn by a man should not be worn by a woman. Keep faith!
Emmanuel King's comment on 2013-02-27 06:05:55:
Before we say anything, we should ask God for knowledge. My knowledge and understanding is, there were no trousers for even men when this command was given by God. So to me, it remains simple; a man must not wear what belong to his wife and women what belong to their husbands, or a man must not wear what has been worn by a woman and vice versa. God is spirit and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth. What a man wears cannot destroy the soul but the sin you do with your mind and heart like theft, fornication, adultery and the likes. May God give us wisdom and understanding of his works. Amen
Bryant Fry's comment on 2013-03-03 21:11:07:
Moses here is speaking of the identity of the two genders, and it is a comparison to nature. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 is reiterating the same principle in the church age that we read here in this passage. Just as we are not to change the identity of the genders for any reason, so Paul is saying the same thing in the New Testament. Consider this: God made the gender differences a very important part of our lives. He made the distinctions, not man. He designed the distinctions in hair lengths, and the distinctions in clothing, not man. This nature was established in Genesis and carries through to the book of Revelation and beyond. 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.\" God still expects us to follow His standards. Here are examples of how God\'s standards haven\'t changed: “I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering (Isaiah 50:3).”
“ Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? (Matthew 6:30)”
“If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith (Luke 12:28)?”
Isaiah tells us how God clothed the heavens, and continues to do so. In the Matthew and Luke passages, we see that God still has the same nature for grasses that existed thousands of years ago.

We need to have these discussions, because there are people like me, that have grown up thinking, what I wore is what would determine whether I make it into heaven. Please be patient as God uses people like you and these discussions to persuade me to trust Him.
You\'re proving Jacque’s point. It\'s not necessarily WHAT we wear, but the attitude behind it. Women began to wear pants to show that \"what a man can do, a woman can do even better!\" Some aren\'t satisfied to just wear pants, but want to be sexy to attract attention. I know all scripture is profitable, but I\'m in the process of reading the words that came out of Jesus\' mouth (red letters) I want to know what was important enough for Jesus to speak. I know all scripture is profitable.
