4Lest happily if they of Macedonia come with mee, & find you vnprepared, wee (that wee say not, you) should bee ashamed in this same confident boasting. 5Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before vnto you, and make vp before hand your bountie, whereof yee had notice before, that the same might bee readie, as a matter of bountie, not of couetousnesse. 6But this I say, Hee which soweth sparingly, shall reape sparingly: and he which soweth bountifully, shall reape bountifully. 7Euerie man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him giue; not grudgingly, or of necessitie: for God loueth a cheerefull giuer. 8And God is able to make all grace abound towards you, that ye alwayes hauing all sufficiencie in all things, may abound to euery good worke,

9:6 He that soweth sparingly shall reap sparingly; he that soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully - A general rule. God will proportion the reward to the work, and the temper whence it proceeds.
People's Bible Notes for 2 Corinthians 9:6
2Co 9:6 He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, etc. Giving is not a sacrifice, but rather a sowing. As the farmer gives his seed to the earth, and then reaps as he has sown, so giving is a sowing. If there is a spare sowing, there will be spare reaping; if liberal sowing, liberal reaping. See the same principle expressed in Ex 25:2 1Ch 29:14,17 Ps 102:9 Lu 6:38 Ac 20:35. The lesson of this verse is, give generously. The next verse teaches how to give.
