- Darby Bible
1Jo 5:16 If a man see his brother sin a sin. Then a brother can be overtaken by sin. Not unto death. There is a sin not unto death, and one unto death. In the latter case the sinners can be restored, and we may pray for them with the assurance that they will be. This implies both work and prayer.

I believe 1Jn5:16 is referring to physical death, while Mat12:31 is referring to spiritual death. I would like to see other thoughts on it.

Most people don't understand that the meaning of death is "seperation". obviously when we die we are seperated from our body but when we aren't alive spiritually we are dead to God, we are seperated from Him, until we gain the life that He so freely offers. when we die we no longer have the option to choose God or man so we have to make that desicion while we still can. God is waiting for us to make that movve to join Him in His Kingdom forever
Timothy Wayne George's comment on 2013-02-16 16:02:35:
All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not unto death. We that are spiritual are to seek to restore in the spirit of meekness, less we be tempted, the one who has committed a sin not leading to death. Matthew 12:31 refers to that generation that rejected Jesus Christ, they committed the sin unto death. It is true if you die in unbelief, you have committed the sin of blasphemy. We will only know once we get to heaven, and stand before the Savior who shall declare what every man shall receive. We are to examine ourselves, and see that we are in the Faith. These things are written that we sin not, but if any man sins we have an Advocate with the Father, who is Jesus Christ, the righteous one.
