1 Now concerning spirituall giftes, brethren, I would not haue you ignorant.

2 Yee know that yee were Gentiles, caryed away vnto these dumbe idoles, euen as ye were led.

3 Wherefore I giue you to vnderstand, that no man speaking by the spirit of God, calleth Iesus accursed: and that no man can say that Iesus is the Lord, but by the holy Ghost.

4 Nowe there are diuersities of gifts, but the same spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 And there are diuersities of operations, but it is the same God, which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the spirit, is giuen to euery man to profit withall.

8 For to one is giuen by the spirit, the word of wisedome, to another the word of knowledge, by the same spirit.

9 To another faith, by the same spirit: to another the gifts of healing, by the same spirit:

10 To another the working of miracles, to another prophecie, to another discerning of spirits, to another diuers kindes of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfe same spirit, diuiding to euery man seuerally as he will.

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the membrs of that one body, being many, are one bodie: so also is Christ.

13 For by one spirit are we all baptized into one bodie, whether wee bee Iewes or Gentiles, whether wee bee bond or free: and haue beene all made to drinke into one spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body: is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the eare shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body: is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members, euery one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say vnto the hand, I haue no need of thee: nor againe, the head to the feete, I haue no neede of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the bodie, which seeme to bee more feeble, are necessary.

23 And those members of the bodie, which wee thinke to bee lesse honourable, vpon these we bestow more abundant honour, and our vncomely parts haue more abundant comelinesse.

24 For our comely parts haue no need: but God hath tempered the bodie together, hauing giuen more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

25 That there should be no schisme in the body: but that the members should haue the same care one for another.

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it: or one member be honoured, all the members reioyce with it.

27 Now yee are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28 And God hath set some in the Church, first Apostles, secondarily Prophets, thirdly Teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helpes in gouernmēts, diuersities of tongues.

29 Are all Apostles? are all Prophets? are all Teachers? are all workers of miracles?

30 Haue all the gifts of healing? doe all speake with tongues? doe all interpret?

31 But couet earnestly the best gifts: And yet shew I vnto you a more excellent way.

Zan Hardesty's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment on 5/04/2013, 12:58pm...

If God is real than his spirit, his christ within, is in all humans. Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, slaves, black white red yellow, advanced, Stone Age.... any all humans are members of the body. a benevolent god would not select only a few chosenS group, that you have to, by chance, be born into. so all humans have Spirit n we seek our true nature n purpose buy whatever spiritual means. most religions even that through time, all say just do the next right thing and get out of self. I'm not a Christian though I was raised hard shell Southern Baptist, as one counselor told me, you've been poisoned religiously. oh well, still find lots of useful material in New Testament. R there any Bible scholars out there, did i interpret correctly? ent

I need help on this verse as I don’t understand it.

Earl W Fisher's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment about verse 9 on 4/13/2013, 10:08am...

I am completely stumped by this very apparent and purposefully placed plural tense of the Gift of Healing, no other place and with no other Gifts of the Spirit is this used. I teach a class, am 62 years old and have pastored for years,… here is some new thing that has me, to be honest; stymied! Can any one share light on it. Please don't come to me with a bunch of different "applications" of the same gift of healing, been there; that is not what I am looking for. Thank you.

R. D. Mattock's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment on 3/05/2013, 11:14pm...

Gifts of the Holy Spirit are the weapons of our warfare. They are mighty in the pulling down of strong holds. No army goes to battle without weapons. The church has sight away from these gifts, some say they have passed away. Try telling someone who has been healed by the gift of healing. Let’s put on the whole armor of God; praying with all prayer and supplication, praying in the Spirit-tongues. Oh, maybe he said a bad word.

Mas's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment on 2/21/2013, 1:28pm...

@Ross,
I believe the honour of the members is proportional to the way we treat such members.
It’s pretty clear, all it takes is reading the text with simplicity of heart, and everything comes plausible.
I just hope this helps.
God bless you.

Ross's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment about verse 23 on 2/21/2013, 9:58am...

Which ones are the less honourable parts of the body, and which ones are the honourable ones?

Dandy maxwell's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment on 1/08/2013, 11:38pm...

I think 1 Corinthian 12 is indicative of humans who serve others as one body of Christ. The gifts are blessings from our father, his son, Jesus and the holy spirit.

Geofred N.A's 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 comment on 11/30/2012, 9:19am...

These gifts are for strengthening the body of Christ and not for personal gain. May I say that they don't belong to anyone but God alone. They are simply tools in effecting the work of the ministry and the minister will give an account to God on how he/she managed them. Some of these gifts may not be needed at a particular moment in time in a service. God only allow the gift to flow when there is a need. Ministers should be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit when a gift is needed.
Thank you.
