1Th 1:4 Knowing . . . your election of God. That you are of the elect, the "chosen nation" (Ps 33:12 1Pe 2:9). All Christians were the elect, and the expression is another way of saying, "Knowing that you have become Christians".

The Bible says, Let God be true and every man a liar. God said I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So it is no by man's will that we are saved, but God's will.

"Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God" How beautiful the sovereign choice of God is! No power is in the hands of man to save himself for heaven and immortal glory... all power to Jehovah!

I enjoyed reading the comments. In Thessalonians Paul 's heart reaches out to God 's people. His hope is to keep them in faith. Faith is a gift from God. It is given to help us to trust God. Paul understood the gift of faith, it was faith that kept him confident and strength to continue God 's mission. Jesus said, " No one comes to me unless the Father draws him. " The Father searches the heart and when he sees that someone believes in His Son, he draws them to receive Jesus. Jesus said, " You did not choose me, I chose you. " Paul learned to trust God the Father in the Lord Jesus Christ, and it helped Paul to learn to be content no matter his state. Hebrew 11:6 He who comes to Him must believe that He is, and that He is the re-warder of them that diligently seek me, but without Faith it is impossible to please him. God 's word must be looked at closely to determine where we sin against Him. But if we ask for forgiveness He is Just to forgive us our sins. What is Faith? Trust
