5:8 But in the mean time watch. There is a close connexion between this, and the duly casting our care upon him. How deeply had St. Peter himself suffered for want of watching! Be vigilant - As if he had said, Awake, and keep awake. Sleep no more: be this your care. As a roaring lion - Full of rage. Seeking - With all subtilty likewise. Whom he may devour or swallow up - Both soul and body.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober. Sobriety is necessary to vigilance. Be vigilant. Wide awake and watchful. The reason follows. An enemy is ready to spring upon them. The devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. He goeth about as the lion, seeking for prey. The lion while hunting only roars when it springs. So the devil is stealthy and does not give warning of his approach.

Many times its through our thought proccess that the devil defeats the child of God.How important the child of God to love and know the word of God.The devil does persist in fostering lies and if you are not on guard with the word of God to counter his lies, you will begin to believe his lies about your life, family members, your difficult circumstance why it is like that, instead must stand on the truth of God.Believe what He has said about your life thats why its important to love God and his word and the devil won't be able to devour you.

Be sober cause when you drink or do drugs you can't focus on God! Be vigilant when life gets crazy, focus on God's mercy and all the good things He has for us! If you’re drunk stoned, you’re focused on this world instead of God. That's a sin and that soon gives the devil control so he can devour you!

I loved it. It was powerfully inspirational to me; the scripture had a powerful meaning... I understood what Peter was trying to relate to us about the Devil, please send more scripture quotes, God bless those little boy's and girl's who died at the hands of the devil's advocate, in Newtown Connecticut. My heart still mourns for those people and small children... Bless their soul's Amen...

That Our minds must be alert at all times, Knowing the evil one wants to destroy the Creation of GOD, Man and Woman, By his deceptive Lies and Trickery in the mind. We can use The Word of GOD Against him, For It is written GREATER IS HE that Is in us then he that is in the world. †
