Chimezie Henry's comment on 6/26/2014, 1:44am...

1 jn 1 tells us of God 's love, his forgiving nature, and ever source of light that we need. It is by confessing Him as our Lord that this light will shine on us. Never to wonder in darkness is to carefully avoid the occassions of sin for the scripture says nothing unclean would make it to the kingdom. Thus let us be light as Christ is without compromise.

Dan's comment on 6/20/2014, 7:01am...

God is light ! Jn 5 If we keep his Commandments 1 Jn 3 23 God who is light will dwell in us and we will dwell in him 1Jn 3 24 if i keep his commandments it is imposible to walk in darkness for i have fellowship one with another with him and his son Jesus Christ the same fellowship they had The fellowship there talking about has to do with this blending with us and God Fellowship is not friendship

Brenda Carnell's comment on 6/18/2014, 7:57pm...

If we keep everything in it 's proper context,we can see the simplicity of God 's message to everyone. The believer,The sinners and the ungodly!1.In the beginning the start of everything 2.Life manifested in the form of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior 3The message come into this knowledge and fellowship ,which is the Light.God is Light,Jesus became the Light of men, shone in darkness, exposing darkness 4.The Light provides the way out of darkness.5Without the Light, there is a continuous stay in darkness sin.6There can be no true fellowship in Christ,if there is no light.7.Liar8.Believers confess their sins to be cleansed.Fellowship is kept.8.Although believers are in the light, they are still surrounded by darkness, therefore, there must be confessions made because of our sinner nature! Just that simple! Thank God for that Light in the form of our Lord and Savior,Jesus Christ! We are so grateful!

God is so good and he loves us so. His love for us is unconditional and only if you have and love your children will you understand this love and forgiveness.

If not for this Scripture Verse and Truth where would We be,Thank You Father,Thank You

Russ's comment on 5/07/2014, 9:43am...

It seems to me that a lot of confusion results when one fails to give sufficient thought to the meaning of the words being used. For instance "saved " means "delivered " or "protected. " It does not always mean "eternal salvation, " although it is often assumed to mean such. It is a word used to convey a thought. Although being saved is presented as being through belief and confession, "eternal salvation " is only used ONCE in the Word of God Hebrews 5 9 and in that case it is presented as being accomplished through "obedience. " "Redemption " is another word that has often been used to refer to "eternal salvation. " Redemption means purchased or brought back to relationship with God. Following redemption the Spirit is given and ETERNAL SALVATION COMES THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO THE SPIRIT. 2 Thess. 2 13 Titus 3 5 6 John 6 63 Romans 5 9 10 The requirement that 1 John presents for having fellowship with God and the effectual cleansing by the blood of Christ is that one must "walk in the light. " Walking in the light is walking in obedience to the teachings of Christ. When one falls short he is to repent and confess his sin. These acts presents an acknowledgment of one 's sin and the sovereignty of Christ in his life. It is also a step in forsaking that sin again and transforming his life. The understanding that pardon for sin is all that is required to gain eternal salvation is incorrect. A pardoned murderer is still a murderer at heart he is merely no longer held accountable for his offense. What one needs is a transformation of the heart and mind so that one is is the likeness of Christ Romans 8 29 The sacrifice of Christ on thee cross directly, and by imputation of Christ 's righteousness, cleansed the believer of all of his "past sins. " Hebrews 5 9 2 Peter 1 9 Romans 3 25 26 It also needs to be appreciated that the death of Christ was to free the sinner from the righteous requirements of the Old Covenant so that he could enjoy the new covenant or the covenant of the Spirit. Heb. 9 15 The Old covenant, which brings death, has been completed. 2 Corinthians 3 6 There is a great deal of admonition by Paul to encourage one to walk by the Spirit 's leading. Galatians 5 18 Romans 8 3 4,8 12 14 The broad interpretation of God 's "grace " in salvation also needs to be considered. His grace is realized through having been freed from the rule of the first covenant so that he can be transformed under the second. The transformation that occurs through sanctification makes one the product of His "workmanship. " Ephesians 2 10

Todd's comment about verse 6 on 5/06/2014, 9:17pm...

We need to take this verse seriously. If we claim to be a Christian and yet are willfully sinning we are walking in darkness. God is a jealous God. He wants all of us. The choice is up to us.

LoveNotWar's comment on 4/10/2014, 2:47am...

It is so interesting how everyone has a different take on the same passages. I want to point out that no one commented on verse 6. The authour is saying that you cannot be a true believer and still be controlled by sin. Being controlled by sin does not mean you never sin. I see alot on here this question about being saved forever and going to heaven and it really comes down to if a person is "truly saved " and if they have "truly put their faith in Christ ". Only God knows this but I would say that certain sin such as murder, rape, extreme greed etc. are indicators that a person is not truly saved and would thus have to be born again to inhereit the kingdom of heaven.

Tommy's comment about verse 7 on 4/07/2014, 9:39pm...

when we accept Christ we are walking in the light, we do not have to do any works to stay in the light and if we are saved we can never walk in darkness no matter what we do but we are capable of committing dark acts but we are not able to ever get out of Gods light once we accept Christ. our sinful actions cannot take us out of the light I know,i know, it makes the devil and some Christians mad that my sinning will not keep me out of heaven

Cornelia's comment about verse 7 on 3/12/2014, 1:41am...

This portion of scripture offers a solution to or shows why there is disunity in the local churches It is because we are not walking in the light Jesus If you have to or more persons following marching instructions left right left right for as long as they follow the instructions they will automatically be in the same timing one with another

Mark Spann's comment about verse 4 on 3/03/2014, 8:53am...

This completed joy or fullness of joy how can it be captured with so much anger in this world

Michael's comment about verse 9 on 2/24/2014, 7:37am...

Arthur 12 3 13 is absolutely correct I too believe 1 Jn 1 is NOT written for the benefit of believers The Gnostics were unbelievers among the believers and needed to hear TRUTH about their sin s Either Christ died for all sin for all time or He did not If we still have to make effort to receive forgiveness as the Old Testament people Jews did as the Apostle Paul also states Christ s death was in vain My salvation is simply Him living His life in and through me and when I seek to do my will I say Thank you for having already forgiven me and for having cleansed me from unrighteousness I am continuing to understand Your deep love for me and I am so very grateful for Your love He desires for me to be conscious of HIM and HIS life and love for all others not a sin consciousness which would keep my focus on sin It is very freeing for my mind He truly lives and is truly madly in love with each of us

Bob's comment on 1/31/2014, 7:51pm...

Sam, you are mistaken on your belief that we are not saved forever when we place our faith in Jesus. Hebrews 10:26 refers to those who hear the word and wear the Gospel, and make the choice to ignore it and continue on with their life without Christ. If we had to continually be "saved" then there would have been no need for Jesus to be our sacrifice; there would be no need for us to have faith in Him as the one and only true Son of God. Bottom line, we would have to go to God the Father; but Jesus is our only intercessor. He is the only way we can be viewed by God as one of His children. We could not even come close to being in His presence had Jesus not cleansed us once and for all.

Sam's comment on 1/25/2014, 7:57am...

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.(GAL. 6:7 ) It was the same Apostle that wrote this thru the inspiration of GOD(2TIMOTHY3:16)

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people-
HEBREWS 10:26-30

WITH THIS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS UNSCRIPTURAL AND HERESY TO CONCLUDE THAT ONCE SAVED, YOU ARE FOREVER SAVED.

Philippians 2:12 Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

NOTE: DON'T LIVE AND SWIM IN SIN WITH THE MINDSET OF YOUR FUTURE SIN ARE ALREADY FORGIVEN YOU.

Faleye Olaniyi Oluwatayo's comment about verse 7 on 1/24/2014, 4:38am...

this passage of the scripture is a call to be more close to God, the passage is telling us of what is expected of an individual to walk with God. It then mean that if we claim to know God and still have some devlish acts in us, then we are liers.

Simon P. Sanchez's comment about verse 9 on 1/14/2014, 3:32pm...

This scripture, hits the nial right on the , " HEAD ", when, it comes to the story of my life, and most of all, because it does, involve, the most inportant, person here on earth, which everyone knows it Precious.

DELORES Weathers's comment on 1/10/2014, 12:54pm...

Thank God for 1John , Because it help me understand that there isn't no prefect preson, in the world.and we have forgiveness through Christ.

Eric's comment about verse 2 on 1/06/2014, 10:41am...

I asked if verse 2 was in the original writings? or was it inserted form someones notes, and if so why when verses 1 and 3 are saying the same thing.
My question is was it in the original writings
Thanks

Millie's comment on 12/25/2013, 6:58am...

the person who thinks his future sins are forgiven in advance, needs to read I john 2:1...IF we sin,,,we must confess and ask forgivness thru Jesus,,,He is our advocate with the Father.,,don't be deceived into thinking you can continue to sin and that a past repentance covers it,,,,read Hebrews,,,read Romans...if you truely repent because you see where you have sinned against God, and if you fall in love with Jesus,,,you won't have a sinning problem. But then IF you err, you can go to Jesus with a repentant heart and He will forgive each and every sin. It is His will to present you faultless to the Father.

Ollie's comment on 12/12/2013, 9:45pm...

theres a choice we must make to be bless or cursed,it so easy as 1-2-3

Arthurs Comment's comment about verse 9 on 12/03/2013, 1:45am...

1 John 1:9 was written to Gnostics teachers who had infiltrated their ranks and John was addressing them. It was not written to believers.

Consider this: In the old testament, the Hebrews confess their sins to have their sins covered for one full year under the old covenant when, under the New Covenant, many christians confess their sins daily? is not the blood of Jesus better than that of bulls and goats?
If confessing is vital to forgiveness why did not Paul, the man that God used to write thirteen different epistles, mention anything at all about confessing sins in any of them?
When you accepted The Lord Jesus Christ you were translated from darkness into the light and all your sins have been forgiven past, present and future. Alleluia thank you Jesus!!!

Loreen's comment on 11/27/2013, 6:04pm...

The book of 1john is very powerful I love how it says " We love cause he first loved us"
Without God loving us we wouldn't know what love is or how it feels to be loved, So the authour of Love is God Himself* its not by our own ability that we love but God loved us for us to know Love #Revelation is we can't love on our own ability, Just like we couldn't pay for our own sins, Jesus had to #Love

LEIGH's comment about verse 9 on 11/20/2013, 10:13am...

YES SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST IS OUR ONLY HOPE .. CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY... NO YE NOT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE .. . For the most part most of religion dose not understand that the scripture is alive today as much as it was in the early rain church ...Jesus is not dead ... Read First john ... and understand that The Gospel of salvation is just as alive today as it ws then ... and all scripture is given unto us to bring us UNTO .. salvation..

Virgina Gerena's comment on 11/17/2013, 10:45am...

As it is written in the scribes in the beginning it was God he is the Word. It is unfortunate that becausr of/all the variations, translations & religions they've twisted & changed the Word to fit their selfish ways, their standards & corupt ways. Destroying all the gd things he created. We need more prayer & accord i among the different cultures. The Lord be with us in these conflicting times.
