Wesley's Notes for 1 John 4:18

4:18 There is no fear in love - No slavish fear can be where love reigns. But perfect, adult love casteth out slavish fear: because such fear hath torment - And so is inconsistent with the happiness of love. A natural man has neither fear nor love; one that is awakened, fear without love; a babe in Christ, love and fear; a father in Christ, love without fear.

Verse 19 shows that God took the initiative in showing love by giving the life of Jesus in our behalf. Love does not originate with men and our love for God is really in response to His love for us.

For God is love if we abide God and his words into our life then we receive the Gift of Love that God had imparted in us. To love one another is a perfect obedience into his words. He who loves Jesus will keep his words until rapture. We must be born again in spirit and not in the flesh walk with faith and not by sight. We need to fix our eyes to Jesus. Lets give thanks to the blood and Praise him
