Wesley's Notes for 1 Corinthians 6:19

6:19 And even your body is not, strictly speaking, your own even this is the temple of the Holy Ghost - Dedicated to him, and inhabited by him. What the apostle calls elsewhere the temple of God, #1Cor 3:16|,17, and the temple of the living God, #2Cor 6:16|, he here styles the temple of the Holy Ghost; plainly showing that the Holy Ghost is the living God.

People's Bible Notes for 1 Corinthians 6:19

1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. This makes clear how terrible is the sin of defiling the body by licentiousness. It is desecrating God's temple. As the Shekinah dwelt in the temple of Israel, so the Holy Spirit in Christ's temple, which we are. Ye are not your own. But members of Christ, and hence have not the right to use our bodies to our own pleasure.

so then in verse 20 its reply to the verse before which is 19 saying Therefore glorify our Heavenly Father in our BODIES and in our SPIRIT which is HIS (Heavenly Father's)
saying our bodies and spirits does not belong to us its our Heavenly Father's
