Why does it have strange spelling?
1 The sonnes and chiefe men of Beniamin. 33 The stocke of Saul and Ionathan.
Now Beniamin begate Bela his first borne, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,1
Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.
And the sonnes of Bela were: Addar, and Gera, and Abihud,3
And Abishua, and Naaman, and Ahoah,
And Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram.5
And these are the sonnes of Ehud: these are the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Geba, and they remoued them to Manahath:6
And Naaman, and Ahiah, and Gera, he remooued them, and begate Uzza, and Ahihud.
And Shaharaim begate children in the countrey of Moab. After hee had sent them away: Hushim, and Baara were his wiues.
And he begat of Hodesh his wife, Iobab, and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malcham,
And Ieuz, and Shachia, and Mirma. These were his sonnes, heads of the fathers.
And of Hushim he begate Ahitub, and Elpaal.
The sonnes of Elpaal: Eber, and Misham, & Shamed, who built Ono, and Lod with the townes thereof.
Beriah also and Shema, who were heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Aialon, who droue away the inhabitants of Gath.
And Ahio, Shashak, and Ierimoth,
And Zebadiah, & Arad, & Ader,
And Michael, and Ispah, and Ioha the sonnes of Beriah,
And Zebadiah, and Meshullam, and Hezeki, and Heber,
Ishmerai also, and Iezliah, and Iobab the sonnes of Elpaal.
And Iakim, and Zichri, & Zabdi,
And Elienai, and Zilthai, & Eliel,
And Adaiah, and Beraiah, and Shimrath, the sonnes of Shimhi,21
And Ishpan, and Heber, & Eliel,
The genealogie of Beniamin.
And Abdon, and Zichri, and Hanan,
And Hananiah, and Elam, and Antothiiah,
And Iphedeiah, and Penuel, the sonnes of Shashak,
And Shamsherai, and Shehariah, and Athaliah,
And Iaresiah, and Eliah, and Zichri the sonnes of Ieroham.
These were heads of the fathers, by their generations, chiefe men. These dwelt in Ierusalem.
And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, (whose wiues name was Maachah:)29
And his first borne sonne Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, & Nadab,
And Gidor, & Ahio, and Zacher,31
And Mikloth begate Shimeah. And these also dwelt with their brethren in Ierusalem, ouer against them.32
¶ And Ner begate Kish, and Kish begate Saul, and Saul begate Ionathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.33
And the sonne of Ionathan was Meribbaal, and Meribbaal begate Micah.34
And the sonnes of Micah were Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.35
And Ahaz begat Iehoadah, and Iehoadah begate Alemeth, and Asmaueth, and Zimri, and Zimri begate Moza,
And Moza begate Binea: Rapha was his sonne, Elasa his sonne, Azel his sonne:
And Azel had sixe sonnes, whose names are these, Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sonnes of Azel.
And the sonnes of Eshek his brother were Ulam his first-borne, Iehush the second, and Eliphelet the third.
And the sonnes of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sonnes, and sonnes sonnes, an hundred and fiftie. All these are of the sonnes of Beniamin.

8:6 These - These following, ver.#7|, because he here speaks ofthem who were removed. He describes the sons of Benjamin by theplaces of their habitation, without an exact account of their parents;because their genealogies were broken by that almost total extirpationof this tribe, #Judg 20:29 |- 48.
8:28 Heads of the fathers, &c. - Particular notice is taken of these,that others, at their return from captivity, might be induced to settlethere too, which it seems few were willing to do, because it was the postof danger. Many great and mighty nations were then upon earth, and manyillustrious men in them, whose names are buried in perpetual oblivion,while the names of multitudes of the Israel of God, are here carefullypreserved in everlasting remembrance: a figure of God's writing the namesof his spiritual Israel, in the Lamb's book of life.
8:40 Archers - Heb. that tread the bow; for the bows of steel,which these used, required great strength to bend them; whichtherefore they did by treading the bow with their feet, andpulling the string with both their hands.
